Amazon Incorporation has swifted consumer spending to get free shipping. Over almost categories in Amazon, free shipping for non prime customers will start at $49, increased from $35. Two tiered system thresholds specify for what people are buying.

Anything but books consumed shoppers $49 before Amazon qualifies order for free shipping. But the threshold for books is $25. Orders contain many products from categories but at least one book $25 will be qualified for free shipping no matter of the total purchase price.

Since October 2013 the mimum threshold for goods coming from any category was $35. Earlier than that, the mimum to qualify for freeshipping was $25. E-retailers of Amazon periodically reviews its shipping options and they can offer free shipping with or without the minimum purchase threshold.

The upsurge to $49 for non book orders could promote the appeal of Amazon Prime program which gives 2 days free shipping and a host of perks involved video streaming for those paying $99 fee anually. Though Amazon does not reveal how many consumers subscribing to Prime but a research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) LLC estimate 54 million US consumers are prime members. They are valuable for Amazon because of $1,100 spending per year in contrast with $600 regular shoppers
